Description North of the city, the Alhóndiga was built in 1799 and has served as a grain silo, a prison and a fort. A local hero, "El Pipila" blew open the front door during the War of Independence. This led to an important victory for the revolutionaries.

Description Restored 17th Century Colonial hacienda which was built by Captain Gabriel de Barrera, a descendant of the first Conde de la Valenciana. Fully restored and furnished with period pieces imported from Europe, the "ex-hacienda" is now a popular museum.
